Indore Charitable Hospital—A Case of Traumatic Emphysema

The following case is worthy of being placed on record. On the 28th November, 1882, a school-boy named Gopi, eight years old, was admitted into the Inc'ore Charitable Hospital. The history of the case was as follows. Gopi, on his way home from school, was knocked down by a school fellow, and in falling the point of a strong wooden pen, which he held in his right hand, pierced the throat 011 the left side. A passer-by extracted the pen, and the boy proceeded homewards, his father's house being only about 400 yards from the place where he fell But before he could reach his father's house, his face, throat and chest had become greatly swollen.
